Going Under

SOUND WORK

Going Under is both a fixed audio piece and live performance, which centres around the river Ouse in East Sussex, England. The piece combines underwater hydrophone recordings and recordings taken of the Ouse's riverbank. These accompany spoken word that explores the river’s uncanny ability to describe states of the sub-conscious, such as sedation, dreams and hypnosis.

Going Under was programmed as part of The San Francisco Tape Music Festival, and broadcast on BBC Radio 3's Late Junction.

As well as a fixed audio piece, Going Under is also a live performance (see images above).
